Well, it has been a long road to get here. We were supposed to be at JSU enjoying their arena and all of the space. But, we are here, and we are together and though the rain has messed us up, we have graduated. You all have worked so hard. It has been an amazing journey and I can truly say that I'm going to miss you more than you ever know.
Well here we are for private ceremony number two. This has been a whirlwind. This is nothing like what we had planned and wanted, but boy, it has been an adventure that I will never forget, that's for sure. I hope you all know how much work we put into getting you here and that we did everything in our power for this moment to be special.
Y'all were able to find away to say goodbye to all the teachers that have helped you get to this point. I hope you all enjoyed the parade while we got everything cleaned up and set up for your individual ceremonies. The only thing I get to do is present your cords before you go in while Ms. Ray calls your names and all of your honors that you've earned. I hope it is enough, and I hope you realize how hard we worked to make it as special today as possible.
I am beyond proud of these seniors and I didn't want their hard work to go unnoticed. I can't wait to see what they do next. It's not been an easy path to get here this year. It's not been what we dreamed of when we started in August, but I hope you all know how much I love you and have worked to make as many dreams come true as possible.
Besides College Application Week, one of my favorite events is Senior Signing Day. Congratulations to all of these seniors who shared their decisions with us.
Well, registration is upon us and the class of 2020 is anxious and excited. I can't wait to see how this year goes for them.
Lots of questions about dual enrollment versus AP at registration. Here's my opinion, everyone should always take the courses that will provide them with the most exposure if they are college bound. I'm frugal so I'm always about saving money and taking an AP class is free except for the exam. However, I am a terrible test taker, I always have been because I get so anxious taking test. So for my dual enrollment was always the best option. You get what you put into the course, So the more you put into test taking skills and understanding the content, the better off you are. If you perform well in the classroom, then the credit is guaranteed as long as you do your part in the course work. Here's what I am not a fan of, if we have someone who can teach the course, take the course with the teacher, it's never a good idea to trade ACCESS over a real life person unless you have no other option. But, I think I've expressed myself when it comes to that. The class of 2020 is off to a roaring start. Lots of early applications out and I'm super excited for all of them.
I've worked on slowly remodeling the counseling suite and cleaning out the records room. Brittany sure had her own way of filing things, and with maternity leaves between her and Caroline, a lot of things got pushed around. It's all good. I'm just glad I finally get to make the office my own and start all over. I'm taking really good notes, I see a presentation in my near future. And the last day. It has been a crazy few months since I've arrived. Having to have ear surgery didn't help (see blogging is not easy, I had ear surgery in April on top of all the fun). My head is still spinning from end of the year meetings. I think I have found my place in this world. However, I think also, there are still a few battles that I don't know how to fight, and I don't mean that as negatives.
I have my senior remind for the class of 2020, so that makes me feel like I've got my footing again. Britney, well, we are growing. So now it's time to pack the car up for summer work at home and at school. I'm hoping to get my last few days out next week with end of the year closeout so that I can enjoy some actual pool time. Master is done, schedules are ready to go in. I have lots of notes to make next year better and not have so many scheduling issues. One day at a time. |
